What the Entity pillar measures
Entity is the third CITE pillar. It measures whether an AI engine can confidently attach a claim to your brand as a specific, unambiguous thing - a company with a legal name, a founder, a home city, a set of profiles across the web - rather than to a hostname with uncertain provenance.
The signals: Organization and Person schema with stable @ids referenced across pages, a canonical About page, consistent name / description / founder / location across the site's own copy AND across third-party surfaces (LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Wikidata, review sites, press). The sameAs array on your Organization schema is where you tell an engine 'these external profiles are all the same entity'.
Why Entity is slow to move and hard to fake
Entity signals are collective. They live partly on your site (schema you emit) and partly on third-party sites (how they describe you). You can ship an Organization JSON-LD in an afternoon; you cannot change how ten different directories describe you overnight.
That is exactly why the signal carries weight. An engine that finds the same organisation name, founder, and one-line description across your homepage, your About page, your LinkedIn, your Crunchbase, your Wikidata item, and a handful of press mentions treats the entity as verified. Inconsistency at any of those points splits the entity in the graph.

- How many sameAs links should Organization schema carry?
- As many as you actually own - and no more. A sameAs pointing at a URL that does not resolve, or at a profile that is not really you, is a broken entity signal. Start with the profiles you have already claimed (company LinkedIn, corporate site, Crunchbase, Wikidata, GitHub org, X, YouTube) and add each new one only after the profile is live and describes you consistently.
- Do I need a Wikipedia page for the Entity pillar?
- No. Wikipedia notability standards are high and premature attempts fail Articles for Deletion, which is worse than not trying. Wikidata (the underlying structured-data project) has a lower notability bar, feeds Google's Knowledge Graph directly, and is where the Entity signal actually shows up for LLM grounding. Create the Wikidata item first; Wikipedia later if genuine notability accrues.
